Serena Williams' coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, has told Wimbledon.com that the Californian's defeats in this year's Australian Open and Roland Garros finals means there will be less pressure - not more - on her on Saturday.

Since winning last summer's Wimbledon title, Williams has been stuck on 21 majors and unable to move on to 22, which would put her level with Steffi Graf's record for the modern era. After losing in the semi-finals of last year's US Open, she was beaten by Germany's Angelique Kerber in this year's Melbourne final and then by Spain's GarbiƱe Muguruza in the Paris denouement last month.

But Mouratoglou said that those disappointments have lowered the expectation on Williams before she plays Kerber on Centre Court.

"There's not much pressure on Serena because she lost in the finals of the Australian Open and Roland Garros. There's less pressure because she hasn't been doing as well over the last few months. I think she's OK in terms of pressure. She wants to win a slam for sure," Mouratoglou said.

Williams and Mouratoglou have been working on strategies that they devised after reviewing the Australian Open final. "Serena had a bad experience against Kerber in Australia, which is fine if you use that to learn and to get better next time.

It's always about understanding what happened and why it happened and what you're going to do next time to make sure it's not going to happen again," said the Frenchman."You want a different ending. So that was the purpose of what we did today [Friday's training session at the Aorangi Park practice courts]."

There were no pre-match nerves in the Williams camp, according to Mouratoglou: "She's been doing the same thing the night before a Grand Slam final that she has always done. She has played in a few. Even though the last ones weren't so successful, she's had success in 21 other ones - and in most of her finals. So there's no reason why she would change her routine the night before a match."
