By winning the Wimbledon final in Sunday, Serena Williams matched Steffi Graf's record of 22 Grand Slam singles titles in the Open Era.

Wimbledon.com takes a look at the numbers.

1999

The only year in which Graf and Williams both won a Grand Slam title - they also both defeated Switzerland's Martina Hingis in their respective finals. Graf's came at Roland Garros, while Williams was US Open champion. It was the last of Graf's Grand Slam triumphs and Williams' first. Williams has won Grand Slam titles in three different decades, while Graf did so during two - the 1980s and 1990s.

34
Williams is the oldest woman in the Open Era to win a Grand Slam singles title. She already holds the record after winning last summer's Wimbledon Ladies' Singles Championship at the age of 33. Graf was 29 when she won her last major: the 1999 French Open.

17

Graf's age when she won her first major: the 1987 French Open. Williams was the same age when she claimed her first major: the 1999 US Open.

31
The number of Grand Slam finals that Graf contested. This was Williams' 28th major final. But no woman has appeared in more Grand Slam finals in the Open Era than Chris Evert, who played for a major 34 times, while Martina Navratilova did so 32 times (they each finished their careers with 18 Slams).

78.6

Williams' winning percentage in Grand Slam finals, with 22 titles from her first 28 appearances, which is higher than Graf's. The German won 22 titles from her 31 major finals, giving her a percentage of 71.

7

The number of Wimbledon titles for both Williams and Graf. They both trail Navratilova, however, who holds the record with nine.

77,564,981
The prize money, in US dollars, that Williams had won before The Championships began. Over the course of her career, Graf won $21,891,306.
