The Fortnight in tweets
Away from the courts, a social media snapshot of The Championships READ MORE

With the four finalists in the men's and ladies singles amassing over 10 million Twitter followers between them, it's no wonder The Championships attracts a good crop of tweets over the Fortnight.

Happy to be here...

Even before a ball had been hit in the main draw, players were out and about in London.

Can you spot Juan Martin Del Potro? He's blending in.

Germany's Sabine Lisicki seemed happy to be back at the Grounds of SW19...

Tomas Berdych went to check that there were definitely some people coming to watch.

Preparation is always of the utmost importance...

First things first. Belgium's David Goffin checks he's on the right surface...

... while Jo-Wilfried Tsonga takes the opportunity for some extra strength training.

Simona Halep makes sure everyone's colour coordinated.

Sometimes however, training just doesn't go the way you want.

Rain was ever present in the first week, but that didn't dampen the spirits too much...

Dutch player Robin Haase sees the rain as a chance to hang out with friends.

Tomas Berdych is forced into some extra down time...

...while Switzerland's Timea Bacsinszky seems to have the measure of the British weather.

And who can forget Dustin Brown's individual take on the weather forecast?

The rain didn't only generate extra tweets, it also prompted the first Middle Sunday play since 2004...

Yes, 2004. That was 12 years ago. Can you remember what happened? Here's a little reminder:

With the opportunity to buy tickets online, some fans just had to be here...

The fans had a great day - the weather held and the matches were thrilling.

Players like American Coco Vandeweghe were certainly happy to be on court.

Away from the rain, the talking point of the first week was world No.772 Marcus Willis, or @willbomb90 as we came to know him...

Willis came through six matches of Qualifying to ensure his place in the main draw.

On Day 1 he knocked out world No.54 Ricardas Berankis of Lithuania in straight sets...

... and on Day 3 found himself on Centre Court facing Roger Federer, who mightily enjoyed the encounter.

Even when knocked out, Willis wasn't quite ready to pack up and go home...

And of course there are the fans. Dedicated, passionate, and all marvellously individual. We love them all...

Every player has their fans... Halep's Halepenos, the Djokers and these supporters of "Pop Socks".

You definitely don't have to be in SW19, or even in Britain, to enjoy the taste of Wimbledon.

Like Andy Murray's local Sue Ryder charity shop, there are plenty of ways to show your support...

... so many ways. As you can see.

Players received messages of support from near and far...

One of the greatest batsmen of all time was pretty impressed with Roger Federer's performance.

Dominic Thiem is a fan of Chelsea, and it seems that Chelsea is a fan of Dominic Thiem.

Thiem wasn't the only one with a good luck message from his club.

Canada's prime minister Justin Trudeau found time to congratulate Milos Raonic

Let's not forget the tennis. We've seen some amazing matches...

Gordon Reid couldn't hide his excitement in Wimbledon's first wheelchair singles event.

Just a simple merci and thank you from Tsonga. We think he was quite excited though.

Sometimes its hard to play against your friends...

...it's much better to play alongside them.

But of course, tennis players don't play tennis all the time...

Is No.10 seed Petra Kvitova considering an alternative career?

Svetlana Kuznetsova makes time to answer questions from her fans.

What to do on a day off from Wimbledon? Watch Wimbledon of course!

There's no stopping Dominika Cibulkova though.

And it's goodbye for another year...

The advantage of being British - no airports for Dan Evans and team.

Vasek Pospisil looks like he could do with a hand here.

We always suspected it's actually the coffee some players come to Wimbledon for.

Mandy Minella's already planning her next visit to SW19.
