Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares, the No.3 seeds, suffered a surprise defeat in the second round of the men's doubles on Friday.
Britain's Murray and his Brazilian partner Soares lost 4-6, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5, 7-5 to Australia's Sam Groth and Sweden's Robert Lindstedt after three hours and nine minutes' play on Court 18.
Murray and Soares won two Grand Slam titles in 2016 at the Australian Open and US Open, but their best performance this season is a quarter-final run at the French Open last month.
They collected their sixth title together at Queen's in the build-up to Wimbledon. Groth and Lindstedt go on to face Croatian pair Nicola Metkic and Franko Skugor.
Rohanna Bopanna and Edouard Roger-Vasselin, the No.8 seeds, are also out, beaten by British brothers Ken and Neal Skupski.
