Open String is a project that celebrates the story of the Championships in its 130th meeting, the wonderful world of racket strings and the historical relationship between tennis and musical instruments. These seemingly unlinked elements have all been brought together with the song writing skills of ‘Mr. B the Gentleman Rhymer’ and young people from ‘Shine Merton’.
The young people from Shine Merton handpicked their 13 favourite stories from the history of the Championships, stories ranging from corsets to terrible teas, stories that perhaps the public are less aware of than others. These were then sent to Mr. B the Gentleman Rhymer who turned them into a Banjolele led, Chap Hop rhyme.
